The 6-5 Specials Skiffle Band, a quartet made up of retired volunteers, is dedicated to raising money for Dementia UK through their music. Based in Alvechurch, the musicians love playing at charity concerts, arranging private gigs and performing for dementia sufferers at ‘Memory Cafes’.

Having recently appeared on Daz Hale's show for BBC Radio WM 95.6, the band promoted their new album entitled ‘The Circle – It’s Skiffle But Not As We Know It’. The radio DJ loved the tracks so much, he purchased the charitable band's debut album.

Returning back to their roots, Pam Davies, John Davies, Terry Foley and Don Walford perform as the band both for their shared love of 1950s Skiffle music and mutual desire to help a good cause.

The selfless musicians create music using intriguing instruments such as the Washboard, and play upbeat tracks that they hope might trigger memories for Dementia sufferers during their performances at Memory Cafes throughout Birmingham. As talented singers, the band encourage audiences to sing along to tunes they remember, and love interacting with the crowd.

All proceeds made from the sale of the 6-5 Specials Skiffle Band's new album go to charity. The band is available for hire - whether it be a private event, 'Memory' Cafe performance or charity concert.
