Back, bigger and Balti-er than ever for 2017, Curry King will mark its return to the city this November.

With Birmingham recognised as the curry capital of the country, the search has been launched for the second year to find the city’s ultimate curry king or queen. With the help of an expert panel of judges, LoveBrum’s Curry King of Birmingham is a black tie ball with some added spice.

On Thursday 16th November, the Curry King event will bring together some of Birmingham’s hottest chefs to battle it out for the crown at the ICC.  The event is already drumming up excitement amongst curry-connoisseurs as the first of 10 expert judges are announced.

The contestants will present their signature dishes before the professional panel made up of some of Birmingham’s most well-established foodies, including food writer Paul Fulford; entrepreneur and award-winning Lasan chef, Aktar Islam; creative director of Pushkar Cocktail Bar and Dining, Rai Singh; founder and managing director of Miss Macaroon, Rosie Gidnay and hospitality PR specialist, Anita Champaneri.

Speaking about Curry King, returning judge Aktar Islam commented:

"I am so excited to be part of Curry King of Birmingham again this year; the concept is really exciting for the city. It’s great that LoveBrum has thought outside of the box and rather than holding your typical black tie do; they’ve embraced some local culture to bring together food lovers to raise money for great causes. I’m absolutely delighted to have been asked to be a judge again, and can’t wait to see what the competition has to offer on 16 November.”

LoveBrum, a project dedicated to unearthing hidden projects across the city, is the brains behind this black tie ball with a difference. LoveBrum supports the ‘hard-to-reach’ projects; those causes that are not well profiled and do not receive the platform or funding that they deserve. All the money raised by the Curry King of Birmingham event will go towards LoveBrum’s efforts to continue to support hidden gem projects across the city.
