With just a few weeks until Midlands Whisky Festival returns to Birmingham for the second year running, some of the brands taking centre stage at the event have been announced. Over 400 whiskies will be on show at thestudiobirmingham on Saturday 16 September, giving whisky fans a chance to brush up on their whisky wisdom and discover something new.

After celebrating its 10th anniversary last year by introducing a second festival in Birmingham city centre, Midlands Whisky Festival will return with some of the biggest names in the business. The festival, which is the biggest event of its type outside London, will give whisky revelers the opportunity to sample whiskies from across the globe, as well as the chance to brush up on their whisky knowledge. With dozens of distillers and over 100 whiskies to sample, there’s something for everyone.

Macallan, one of Scotland’s most renowned distilleries, is headlining this year’s line-up alongside award-winning Speyside distillers, Glenfiddich. Boasting the tallest stills in Scotland, Glenmorangie will be another great addition to this year’s range of exhibitors. Set to also make waves at this year’s festival are independent Islay distillers, Morrison and McKay as well as Pernod Ricard brands Chivas and The Glenlivet.

In addition to the big names exhibiting at the show, Midlands Whisky Festival will also host a number of specialist masterclasses where visitors get to meet guest faces and delve deeper into the background of the distillery and the different style of whisky they offer.

The UK Brand Ambassador for Glenfiddich, Stephen Rutherford, will be hosting the Deluxe Speyside Tasting at 1pm where he will open old and rare bottles from the Distillery Manager's private cabinet alongside other exclusive drams. Whisky lovers can also enjoy a cigar pairing with Hunters & Frankau and Ian Macleod; tasting some of the finest Cuban cigars, which will be perfectly paired alongside whiskies from the Glengoyne Distillery. Taking place on thestudio’s roof terrace at 2pm, the session will be led by Ian Macleod’s Glengoyne Ambassador, Alan Wardrop.

Organised by Nickolls and Perks of Stourbridge, one of the UK’s oldest wine and spirits merchants, Midlands Whisky Festival is one of the UK’s most celebrated events dedicated to dream drams. Speaking about the second Birmingham event, David Gardener of Nickolls and Perks, said:

“Last year we celebrated our milestone anniversary by introducing a second festival in Birmingham and we are absolutely delighted to be bringing the festival back to the city centre next month. Holding the festival in the heart of the city means that we are able to showcase this wide range of whiskies to a whole new audience.

“There has been a real whisky renaissance in the past couple of years, but we’re in the exceptional position of not only hosting a decade of events dedicated to the spirit, but also being one of the UK’s oldest and most established merchants. We bring our expertise and passion to the event, giving guests a true taster of the Nickolls & Perks style.”
